Katarakt-Symptome: verschwommenes Sehen, verminderte Sehkraft, im Extremfall Erblindung

Cataract and vision

A cataract is comparable to an increasing clouding or veil, continuously covering the entire field of vision. A common indication for the lens opacity is an increased responsiveness to glare or a decreased contrast vision (meaning that driving a car at dusk or during the night becomes increasingly difficult).
Further indications can be:

•    Blurry sight
•    Diminished vision, especially in the dark
•    Amplification of an existent „shortsightedness“
•    Failing accommodation ability

In the extreme case it can lead to blindness. The decrease of visual acuity is usually perceived by the patient as the most drastic impairment of sight.
