Besser Sehen ohne Brille nach der Katarakt Operation.

Monofocal lens or multifocal lens?

If you are about to receive artificial lenses as a patient in a cataract operation, it is advisable to inform yourself in advance about the latest state of the art in medical technology.

A new multifocal lens offers superior vision quality for near and far sight both day and night.

Conventional spherical lenses – also known as monofocal lenses – cannot compensate for presbyopia, which results from the increasing loss in elasticity of the natural eye lens from the age of 40 onwards.

In a cataract operation, the cloudy natural lens is replaced by an artificial lens. As a result of development of multifocal lenses, patients now have the possibility of having permanent sharp vision in the near range as well as distance vision without the need for further correction with glasses. This is possible without additional effort and without risk.

The multifocal lens simulates eyesight as we know it from our younger years with a clear lens offering the elasticity needed for near-range adaptation. In other words, the fitting of a multifocal lens after a successful cataract operation allows distance and near vision without the need to wear glasses.
