Kurzsichtigkeit – LASIK in Köln- Korrektur kurzsichtiger Augen

Myopia

Short-sighted people are able to see close objects in sharp focus, whereas objects further away can be seen only blurred. In the case of myopia, the eye is usually too long in relation to the refractive power of the eye. The focal point of the incident light rays is then already in front of the retina instead of on it.

Optical correction of myopic eyes is performed by reducing the refractive power of the eye. As a result of this correction, the focal point is moved back onto the retina and the image is sharp again.

With glasses and contact lenses, this is achieved by means of a concave lens. The correction value of this lens is specified in negative dioptres. A “vision passport” would then have an entry such as -4.75 dpt. The greater the degree of myopia, the higher the (negative) value and the thicker the glasses lenses. In the case of an operation, the overall refractive power of the eye is changed in order to achieve an optimum state.

If you would like to correct your myopia without glasses or contact lenses, refractive eye surgery is possible by means of the LASIK procedure. This is currently the most commonly used procedure in eye surgery.
